Tom Chasuk fell in love with beans as a toddler while working with his
parents in their vegetable garden. "I remember I used to like to watch the
vines wind and climb up poles and string. We used to eat them raw, right
off the vines. I loved the taste."
As much as Tom loved beans, it wasn't until many years later that he became
known as "The Bean Gourmet". One day while Tom was working as a
producer on AM Los Angeles the executive producer called a meeting. A
guest who was scheduled to appear the next day had canceled. The
producer asked the staff if any of them had talent and wanted to be on the
show. Nobody raised their hand, but a few pointed to Tom. "The Bean
Gourmet" was born.
Tom became a regular guest on Lifetime's Attitudes, and went on to write two books, He self-published his first book, "The Bean Gourmet Presents The Canned Bean
Cookbook", and Hearst Books published his second, "The Bean Gourmet Presents The Greatest Little Bean
Cookbook". He has appeared on many national talk shows including The
Tonight Show, SoapTalk, Donny and Marie, and Regis & Kathie Lee. Tom's favorite TV moment happened when
Julia Child surprised him in the kitchen and cooked with him on Attitudes
hosted by the fabulous
Linda Dano and Dee Kelly.
Tom continues his "Bean Crusade" with the paperback edition of "The Bean
Gourmet Presents The Greatest Little Bean Cookbook".
